A data center construction project manager delivers a building or campus by a fixed energization date and coordinates design, contractors, long-lead equipment and the commissioning sequence. Our first screening question is how many sites the candidate has taken to energization.
The job
Owns schedule, budget and contractor performance for a build; manages long-lead procurement of switchgear, generators and chillers; runs owner and contractor reporting; escalates and resolves the constraints that move the energization date; and hands the building to commissioning and operations.

- Confirm they have managed long-lead procurement. Late switchgear and generators often push the energization date.
- Check whether they have handed a building to commissioning, or only to a client.
- Ask what they did the last time a GC said the date could not be met.
