About the role

A national engineering and construction firm is adding mechanical commissioning specialists to its data center delivery team. You will own the mechanical side of commissioning on live hyperscale and enterprise data center builds, from pre-functional checks through integrated systems testing and turnover.

Travel is 95 percent. Assignments run on active construction sites and shift with the project schedule. Housing and travel support are provided; details are confirmed at offer.

What you will do

  • Review mechanical design documents, submittals and sequences of operation for commissionability
  • Write and execute pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests for chilled water plants, CRAH and CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers, air handlers and associated controls
  • Witness factory and site acceptance testing for mechanical equipment
  • Lead or support integrated systems testing, including loss-of-cooling and failover scenarios
  • Track deficiencies, drive resolution with contractors and vendors, and document closeout
  • Produce daily field reports and contribute to the final commissioning report
  • Coordinate with electrical commissioning, controls, the general contractor and the owner's team

Requirements

Required

  • 3 or more years of mechanical commissioning, startup or test-and-balance experience on commercial, industrial or mission critical facilities
  • Hands-on work with chilled water systems, air handling, pumps and building automation sequences
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs and control sequences
  • Comfortable on active construction sites and able to travel 95 percent
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred

  • Prior data center or mission critical commissioning experience, Level 1 through Level 5
  • CxA, CxT, CCP or BCxP certification
  • Experience with liquid cooling or high-density compute environments
  • Background in HVAC controls, OEM chiller startup or industrial plant commissioning is welcomed if paired with functional testing experience
