About the role

A national engineering and construction firm is adding electrical commissioning specialists to its data center delivery team. You will own the electrical side of commissioning on live hyperscale and enterprise data center builds, from equipment startup through integrated systems testing and turnover.

Travel is 95 percent. Assignments run on active construction sites and shift with the project schedule. Housing and travel support are provided; details are confirmed at offer.

What you will do

  • Review electrical one-lines, submittals and protection coordination for commissionability
  • Write and execute pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests for medium and low voltage switchgear, UPS systems, generators, paralleling gear, PDUs, static transfer switches and EPMS
  • Witness factory and site acceptance testing for electrical equipment
  • Lead or support integrated systems testing, including utility loss, generator transfer and UPS battery discharge scenarios
  • Track deficiencies, drive resolution with contractors, testing firms and vendors, and document closeout
  • Produce daily field reports and contribute to the final commissioning report
  • Coordinate with mechanical commissioning, controls, the general contractor and the owner's team

Requirements

Required

  • 3 or more years of electrical commissioning, acceptance testing or startup experience on commercial, industrial or mission critical facilities
  • Hands-on work with switchgear, UPS, generators or power distribution equipment
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, schematics and sequence-of-operation documents
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and arc flash safety practices
  • Comfortable on active construction sites and able to travel 95 percent
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred

  • Prior data center or mission critical commissioning experience, Level 1 through Level 5
  • NETA Level II or higher, CxA, CxT, CCP or BCxP certification
  • Experience with EPMS, SCADA or power monitoring integration
  • Background in NETA testing, OEM UPS or generator field service, utility substation work or Navy nuclear electrical is welcomed if paired with functional testing experience
