A commissioning engineer executes the electrical or mechanical scripts that prove a data center performs as designed, from factory witness through Level 5 integrated systems testing. The title is used interchangeably with commissioning agent by some owners, but engineer-titled seats usually sit closer to the discipline-specific test execution than to overall program management.
